This highly geometric composition with many triangles, diamonds, and rectangles is loosened with irregular shapes, tribal markings, and overlays of semi-transparent rays. The flattened hexagon near the top of the canvas has undergone a transposition--in this case meaning the shape has shifted its place. The idea of transposition here represents the gift that may result from a change in perspective. The black-on-white and white-on-black triangles on either side of the picture further emphasize this notion. The mostly subdued palette of antique gold, yellow ochre, black, white, and cream serves as a ground for the colorful rays fading through spectrums of purple and turquoise. The upper area of the picture is highly textured with horizontal impasto lines adding more disruption to the initial impression of rigidity.
